Lent 1: Love & grief, glory & belief

John 11: 1-44

Focus statement: We often think of love and grief as very different emotions. This week, we are challenged with the dissonance of their relationship. Pay attention to Jesus words and actions here, and the dissonance they stir up in us.

Lent to Easter 2026

For the Sundays during Lent through Easter, our worship services will focus on Dwelling in Dissonance using the resources provided in the Leader magazine. This year our Lenten Bible readings will be from the gospel of John. Unlike the other gospels, these scripture readings will explore the Holy Week story throughout all of our Lenten worship services. We will be invited to experience and linger in this final week of Jesus life and not rush into the time of Easter. This will be a time to dwell in the dissonance of knowing & not knowing, of seeing how things are instead of how we want them to be.
