10am : Valleyview Seniors Gathering at Valleyview

Valleyview Seniors and others who are interested in hearing Andrea S. share of her heritage tour to Norway.

Everyone is invited to come and hear some interesting stories about Norwegian migration to North America - and enjoy some authentic Norwegian treats! This summer I joined my sisters and cousins on a heritage tour to Norway and learned more about all of my Norwegian ancestors and relatives. The tour was part of the celebration of "Crossing 200", the anniversary of the start of organized Norwegian migration to North America which saw a third of Norway's population (800,000 people) leave their homes for new opportunities on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean.

The first ship - the Restauration - left Norway in 1825 with nine families on board - Quakers seeking religious freedom. A replica of the ship sailed that same journey this year, leaving Norway on July 4 and arriving in New York City on October 9 to much fanfare. I attended the Sail Away party in Norway and will share stories about the voyage made by the sailors today and 200 years ago. Andrea S

Special Meeting of the Members - Meeting Notice
Sunday, November 23
rd, 2025 - 11:00 a.m.

This is notice of the Special Meeting of the Members to be held on Sunday, November 23rd, 2025, at 11:00 am. The purpose of this meeting is to make a decision, as a congregation, around entering a Memorandum of Understanding with Habitat for Humanity Heartland with the intention of donating a portion of our parking lot so that Habitat can build Habitat houses, and at the same time, explore the cost of expanding the Valleyview building.

Non-members are welcome to attend and participate in all discussions; however, non-members are not eligible to vote. We encourage everyone to attend.

Please review the website resources: Proposal with Habitat for Humanity and the MOU prior to this special meeting.

assistive_listening.png  Assistive Listening Survey

In an effort to provide for the audio needs of everyone in our congregation we seek your input about assistive listening. Assistive listening systems help those in our congregation who have trouble hearing spoken word and make our services available to all of our members. We want to make sure that all of our members can participate fully in our services and activities, and your responses will help us do that. Thank you for your input as we work to ensure that everyone can hear our message clearly.

Complete the survey by Sunday November 30th either online (click here), or by returning a survey card available on the church library counter.

Additional questions, please email office@valleyviewmc.ca or speak to a member of the A/V Committee on Sundays.
