Annual Business Meeting Sunday, May 5, 11:00am:

The Annual Business Meeting of the Congregation is scheduled for Sunday, May 5, 2023. The meeting will occur during the Second Hour following the end of Sunday Worship, at 11:00am in-person at Valleyview, and Live Stream will be available. The Notice & Proxy forms, Agenda, Booklet, and Slate of Nominees are available at www.valleyviewmc.ca > Resources, as well as emailed to the congregation on April 21^st.

 

Craft Supplies for Fanshawe Park Worship & Picnic

This year there will once again be a craft project at the Fanshawe Park picnic on June 2. If you would like to participate, you will need to bring the following:

 

        1)  one empty 796-ml tin can, a size commonly used for tomatoes or fruit. (The size is specific to fit inside a structure.)

        2)  a green-handled, square-drive screwdriver if you have one.

 

An example of the craft is on display in the upper foyer. Please leave your can with your name on it at the display by Sunday, May 26^th. I will bring your tin and a craft kit to the park on June 2.

Seniors' Gathering Wednesday, May 15 at 10AM

Shelley K. will be bringing us a survey of London's art history, especially the hotbed of the 1960s to the 1980s, and this particular thing artist Greg Curnoe called "Regionalism". What was it, how was it received, who were some of the key figures, and why did it happen in London (of all places!?)

 

This quote in an American magazine from 1969 sums it up:

Silver Lake Mennonite Camp

SLMC Annual Meeting - Silver Lake Mennonite Camp will hold its 2024 Annual Meeting on May 11^th at 11:30am on Zoom (link at slmc.ca). There will be voting on by-law changes that can be found on the SLMC website. All are welcome!

Spring Teen Camp  High school youth ages 13-17 are invited to Silver Lake from May 10-12 for a fun weekend of waterfront activities, campfires, games, great food and more! Register at slmc.ca/retreats.

SLMC Grand Paddle & Hike - Silver Lake is holding its annual fundraiser May 10-12. Visit the fundraising site to create/join your team or donate. All participants are welcome to join scheduled group paddles/hikes/bike rides on May 11 at 2pm (details at slmc.ca).

 

Hidden Acres Mennonite Camp

Hidden Acres is hosting our 57th Annual Chicken BBQ & 16th Annual Pie Auction Fundraiser on Tuesday, June 11 from 5 - 7 pm.  

Come and enjoy our delicious chicken dinner that thousands of people have come to know and love. Along with the chicken, your meal includes potato salad, coleslaw, veggies, pickles, a fresh roll, chips and an apple or fresh baked donut.

$20 Small meal (1 piece of chicken) / $24 Regular meal (2 pieces of chicken).  

Pie Auction will happen during the meal.
